  • IMPORTANCE OF GOAL SETTINGS

To progress in life, having a plan is vital. Those plans you make can also be referred as goals.

The following are why it is important to have a GOAL SETTING:

  1. Settings goals gives your life a direction: When you want to journey to a particular place or destination, you need to know how to get there. Are you planning to get there by road, air or water. What direction will I take to arrive at my place of destination; all these applies to our daily life. You can't arrive to a point in life without making goals, and if you do, it only takes the grace of God for such to occur. In the real world, everyone knows they need some sort of direction to arrive at a point in life, that is why there are applications like Google maps which will direct you to your place of journey. So you can therefore relate goal settings to Google maps because they both direct you to a path. Do you have Google maps in your life? I guess you know what I mean. It is very important to have a goal, so that you won't get lost in your life journey.

  2. Monitors your life's Progress: When you have goals, it will let you know if you are actually progressing or not. It will also let you know if your effort toward arriving at a particular point/position is enough, if not, then you know you need to put in more effort. You can still relate this to Google maps that shows you the speed in which you are moving and the time you will arrive at that destination. With that, you will know how much speed you need to move to arrive early at that point and if you are late, then you will probably know how faster you have to move to arrive early. A fitness watch or a smart watch can also relate to this; these devices notify you on your heart rate, how much sleep you take and also your number of steps. If you find that you lack in any form of these, then you will know how much effort that needs to be added. In simple terms, GOAL SETTING helps record your achievements and let you know how much effort you need to PROGRESS.

  3. Reduces Procrastination: At every point in life people procrastinate and it is inevitable. Everybody does it even though those that preach it is a bad thing. I won't even say it is bad to procrastinate but all I have to say is; uncalculated procrastination is not good, and too much of it has consequences. Having a goal setting let you know when you can swap/shift plans. For instance, if you are weak/tired and you have an activity to perform, it is okay to shift such plans because the body needs rest. You can't kill yourself over the fact you don't want to procrastinate; Health is Wealth, so do what is needed. Another instance could be choosing a less important activity over a more valuable one; at this point, procrastination should be avoided. Having a goal setting will let you know what activity is valuable to the other. So therefore, you will know the best time to shift/procrastinate an activity for another thereby helping to reduce the rate of procrastination and help with proper time utilization.

  • HOW I LEARNED ABOUT HIVE OR STEEM AND WHO INFLUENCED ME

I got to know about steem through a very good friend of mine @k-banti who introduced me to the steem blockchain in the year 2018. I have known @k-banti to be part of steem since January 2018 but I wasn't interested then; though he joined steem Nov 2017. I later ended up creating an account on the steem blockchain on June 9 2018 after seeing the amount Kay had earned on the blockchain. @k-banti advised me to join the blockchain because of I played the guitar and wanted me to share videos I make to the blockchain. I didn't last in the steem blockchain because I had phone issues and my system was bad plus the steem platform was not encouraging, so I quitted before the end of 2018.

Two years later, which is actually last month, @k-banti called to tell me about Hive and I was interested in joining after he said Hive is a much better platform than steem. That was how my journey in Hive started.

  • CURRENT HIVE LEVEL AND A GOAL TO ACHIEVE WITH A DATE

A month ago that I joined hive, I had 200 followers, following 49 users and a Hive power of 3, but now I have 272 followers, and I am following 149 users with an Hive power of 133.

My goal on Hive is to enjoy interaction in the platform, so by the end of next month, I will get to follow more Hivers that share interesting contents and also get to increase engagement in my blog.

My goal in building my account is to reach 200HP before the month ends and also attain an Hive power of 300-500HP before the end of the coming month.

My goal in contributing to the growth of hive is to onboard in a total of 50 active Hive members before the end of next month as I have brought a total of 30 users but still keeping up on them so they don't fall back and quit like I did on steemit.

  • WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN PARTICIPATING IN REDFISH 100 RALLY, HOW DID IT ASSIST YOU TOWARDS ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS?

Joining theterminal as a redfish rallier has really helped my growth here on Hive since the past month that I began. I have learned alot but I will briefly explain two (2) most important points I have learnt being a rallier in the terminal.

1. Good Blogs & Bad Blogs: I have known that to keep an healthy blogging and preventing a unhealthy one, sourcing images or quotes used is vital. It is best to source free images from https://pixabay.com than to use any image found on Google; doing this keeps you away from spamminators and hivewatcher guys. This information has helped me to always remember to source my blogs and make use of free images; without knowing such, I don't know if I might have entered the blacklist which would have made it impossible to achieve my goals. Having a Good blog is not limited to sourcing images alone but also making good use of grammar and punctuation marks, replying and engaging in comments on your blog.

2. The use of communities: With communities you can get to meet people and make friends with them also. I was adviced to explore the blockchain, go round each communities to check out posts I like and try engaging with them. I must say it has really been fun doing so, as I have met and made friends with talented authors, writers, photographers, artist and musicians. This had helped me fulfill the goal of enjoying the blockchain, making friends and having more followers.

My name is Emmanuel Popoola, I am from West Africa, Nigeria. I am a lead guitarist, so I make vlogs playing songs suggested by my readers/viewers and post them every Friday (Which I call Hive Music Friday). I also focus in onboarding new members into Hive, so you will likely be seeing Reblogs of Introductory Posts. Sometimes, I do blog about posts I have read from other bloggers that interest me, so you could also check them out. While some of my other blogs could be my entry to various tasks, personal life stories and daily life, and motivational topics.
