Before saying who comes to my mind on the word successful, I want to first address the word success and being successful.

Success to my understanding is the accomplishment of a goal

Being successful is achieving life goals that takes you away from your former situation or condition to a better one.

With that, the person who comes to my mind is MY FATHER. First, I would like to note my father isn't a wealthy man but the reason i chose him is because of the challenges he had pass through to reach the stage he is now.

My dad came from a very poor background, he had to hawk toiletries and all sort at a younger age to send himself and his younger sister to school. His father had so many wives and died when he was little leaving his mother nothing to care for him. My dad went through life challenges, did all kinds of job that weren't shady at a tender age to educate himself and his younger sister.

He successfully sent himself to school and yet still did the same for his sister. He finished school as an electrical engineer and worked for a company in the elevator field. He actually went there to learn about elevators and today, he owns an elevator company.

Another reason why I say he is successful because he has managed to sponsor the education of other people and extended family members while still yet trying to take care of his.
